The Fryer Guide

How Long to Cook a Jacket Potato in an Air Fryer (UK Times by Brand)

TEMP
200°C
TIME
30-60 MIN

Every manual that states a numeric temperature for a whole jacket potato uses 200°C (Cosori's Iconic chart, shown only as a reference, gives 385°F, about 196°C). The time varies from 30 to 60 minutes, mostly because of potato size and whether it's pierced and oiled first. The Fryer Guide lists every brand's figure below, since size matters more than picking one brand's number.

Based on 5 manufacturer sources. Figures last checked 27 September 2026. See the full list of manuals and articles used on this site on the about and methodology page.

What each source actually says
  • Cosori (Iconic (different model - reference only)): Chart row: Potatoes (Baked, Whole, 9-10 oz) 385°F 50-60 min source

Cosori's Iconic model, not the L501, Pro LE or Dual Blaze models used elsewhere on this page, publishes a separate cooking-times chart for a 9 to 10oz whole baked potato: 385°F for 50 to 60 minutes. Cosori's own page states this chart does not apply to its other models, so it's shown here only as a labelled reference, converted to about 196°C, and not blended into the range above.

Fresh vs frozen

All figures above are for fresh, raw whole potatoes cooked from room temperature or the fridge. No manual used on this page covers a pre-cooked or frozen jacket potato.

Size and thickness adjustments

Ninja's chart is based on four whole potatoes of 185 to 250g each, pierced with a fork three times and brushed with 1 tablespoon of oil: 36 to 40 minutes for white potatoes, 32 to 40 minutes for sweet potatoes. Salter's four whole potatoes, also pierced, take 38 to 42 minutes. Instant's much longer 45 to 60 minute figure sits well above the others; none of these sources state potato weight for it, so the gap is likely size-related rather than a genuine method difference.

Browning and doneness

None of the manuals give a food-safety temperature for a jacket potato; check it's done by piercing with a knife or skewer, which should meet no resistance.

Where brands disagree

Instant's 45 to 60 minutes is well above every other source at the same 200°C setting; Ninja's own comparison page gives 30 to 40 minutes for the same food, the shortest figure on this page. Neither source states potato weight for these two figures, so treat the shorter time as a starting point for a smaller potato and check with a skewer before assuming it's done.
