How Long to Cook Sausages in an Air Fryer (UK Times by Brand)

TEMP
180-200°C
TIME
8-20 MIN
CORE
75°C

75°C for 30 seconds is one of the FSA’s safe core combinations (standard: 70°C for 2 minutes).

Manufacturer charts for fresh sausages range from 180 to 200°C for 8 to 20 minutes, with the exact time depending mostly on how many sausages are in the basket and whether they're chipolatas or traditional sausages. The Fryer Guide lists every brand's figure below, since batch size and sausage type explain most of the spread.

Based on 4 manufacturer sources. Figures last checked 27 September 2026. See the full list of manuals and articles used on this site on the about and methodology page.

Fresh vs frozen

Only one source used on this site gives a frozen sausage figure: Salter's grill chart lists 10 to 14 minutes on its LOW setting for six frozen sausages, flipped halfway through, with no °C given. Every other figure above is for fresh sausages.

Size and thickness adjustments

Ninja's chart scales with quantity: 8 minutes for four sausages (205g), or 10 minutes for eight sausages (410g), both at 200°C. Instant's chart splits by type, giving 12 to 15 minutes for chipolatas against 16 to 20 minutes for traditional sausages, both at 180°C.

Browning and doneness

Sausages are typically pork, so the FSA's guidance that pork needs to be cooked all the way through applies. This site shows 75°C on the readout panel, the FSA's 75°C for 30 seconds figure, one of the combinations equivalent to its main 70°C for 2 minutes standard.

Where brands disagree

Instant's traditional-sausage figure (180°C, 16 to 20 minutes) takes the longest on this page, while Ninja's fresh-sausage figure sits at 200°C for as little as 8 minutes for a small batch, showing quantity affects time as much as temperature does.

Frequently asked questions

What temperature should sausages be cooked at in an air fryer?
Sourced figures range from 180°C (Instant) to 200°C (Ninja, Salter), with times from 8 to 20 minutes depending on temperature and quantity.
How long do frozen sausages take in an air fryer?
Only Salter's grill chart covers frozen sausages: 10 to 14 minutes on its LOW setting for six sausages, flipped halfway, with no °C stated.
Do I need to turn sausages halfway through cooking?
Ninja's AF400UK chart carries a general note to shake or toss food often for best results. The other fresh-sausage sources give no shake or turn instruction, and Salter's frozen grill chart says to flip halfway through.
Why do sausage times vary so much between brands?
Quantity and type explain most of the spread. Ninja's AF400UK chart gives 8 minutes for four sausages and 10 minutes for eight, and Instant gives a shorter time for chipolatas than for traditional sausages at the same temperature.
