If you are confused between halogen fryers and regular low fat fryers, then you will be amazed to know that they both work on the same principle, that is provide heat via a halogen bulb. In these machines, the bulb is a powerful source of heat which is used in combination with a fan that circulates hot air inside the fryer where the food is placed. As a result, the food inside the bowl is fried.

How Do Halogen Fryers WorkFor the food to be fried, it is essential that it is exposed to an extremely high temperature. Failing to do so will only cook the food and not fry it. This is the reason these fryers are equipped with small bowls that keeps the food closest to the heat source. The halogen fryers also have a non-stick surface where the food is placed. The heat is concentrated on the food that allows it to cook and give the browning effect. It is important to brush the food with little oil to prevent drying or burning the food. Some models even have a rotating paddle that will move the food when it is being cooked to prepare it more evenly.

Here are some features of a low fat halogen fryer that will help you make your buying decision.

  • Capacity: low fat fryers come with smaller capacity because they need food to very close to the source of heat. As a result, a small quantity of food can be cooked at a time. As a result, it is ideal for small families or preparing food for just one or two people at a time.
  • Power consumption: Low fat fryers usually require more power and in an ideal situation, the more power it gets the better it is for the food being cooked. Since the food needs direct heat, halogen fryers require more energy for frying the foods.
  • Timers: Halogen fryers come with a timer that can be either digital or mechanical. Even though you may prefer digital timer, but when you need to have a flawless cooking experience, then mechanical timer can be very helpful in setting it just right.
