To achieve the best results from frying your diced lamb you need to make sure you are allowing the oil to get hot enough before adding in the meat just like with diced beef, we will dive into the method a little more down below.

  • Step one - Grab your nonstick frying pan and add your olive oil for hot frying.
  • Step two - Season with salt before frying then drop your piece of meat into the heat oil which should be at medium-high heat, you want the meat sizzling when it makes contact with the pan.
  • Step three - Wait for moisture and meat juices to appear on the upper side of the meat then turn the diced lamb over and fry on medium heat on the other side.
  • Step four - If you want your lamb chunks well done then turn them over at least two times during cooking, but for medium-rare just turn once until cooked.
  • Step five - You can test the cooking times of your diced lamb with tongs, for example, rare bits will be springy when pressed and well-done lamb chunks will be hard when pressed.

Tips For Frying Diced Lamb

Even though frying diced lamb is pretty simple, there are some tips and tricks which can help you achieve the best tasting results.

We've listed our top tips below.

  • Make sure your lamb pieces have a thickness of 15mm.
  • Use a heavy-based pan for maximum heat retention when frying.
  • Don't cut the diced lamb to see if it's done, instead test it with tongs as we mentioned in our method above, cutting it will make the pieces of meat dry out if you have to put them back on the pan.
